Red Deer Hospital
A former colleague and his wife (both retired) sat in Red Deer Hospital Emergency department for hours and hours recently. He was in absolute agony with a colitis infection. Eventually he was told that he was being admitted but
that he would have to wait there while they looked for a place to put him. He spent the first night in a chair in the Emergency area as there weren’t any beds available.
The next day he was brought to a bed located at the end of a hallway. This hallway was busy with people walking past constantly. His wife had no place to sit when visiting him. She had to stand while people walked around her.
My retire colleague spent 5 days in this bed in the hallway before he was finally well enough to be discharged.
